Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 in 2011

Looks like a fourth film for Pirates of the Carribean will begin production in 2010, and filming starting April and May of 2010. This news comes straight from Disney’s Head of Production Oren Aviv, who said that the film is aiming for a 2010 release if everything goes well.
Unlike the last two films, this movie will not be shot simultaneously with another. Instead, it will be its own movie. Aviv is calling the new movie a “reboot” of the franchise. If this film does spark enough interest, plans for a new trilogy will be made.
“It’s important to get the story right and it’s important to me to scale it down, because we can’t get bigger,” Aviv admitted. “The movies have subsequently gotten bigger and bigger and very complicated and they were satisfying on so many levels obviously, but I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters.”
So maybe we won’t be seeing the return of Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, or Keira Knightly in the new film. It’s definitely a breath of fresh air, but is it the right direction to go with the franchise?
